Missing Link Theatre

Missing Link is a theatre and education company based in Darwin, Australia that currently operates under the auspices of Browns Mart Trustees. We perform plays and theatrical compilations relevant to high school English and Drama curricula, and can deliver acting, directing and technical theatre workshops by prior arrangement with schools.

This site contains information about the company and its current and past productions and personnel, links relevant to drama studies and general theatre, and learning resources for students in senior high school English and Drama Studies.

Current production The Zoo Story is a one act play by Edward Albee (Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?) It is his first play, written in 1958. He recently wrote an additional act and both acts are currently playing Broadway under the title Peter and Jerry. The addition makes this a work that spans Albee’s career as a popular and always controversial playwright. It is a solid piece for student audiences and reviews. It’s not too long – about an hour. There are two characters that contrast and develop in real time. It contains potentially sophisticated and controversial themes and the setting and lighting are easily read. At the end of the play students are encouraged to participate in a brief discussion session with the cast, designer and director .

Bob Scheer: currently Senior Drama teacher at St Johns and local actor.
Nik Manley: teacher and all round performer and theatre practitioner currently working at DEC.

Production

Designer: Bunji Elcoate is currently a freelance designer and student teacher at CDU.
Director: Jenny McCulloch is currently an English/Drama teacher and MAPPLI student at CDU.
